Fall Gathering will be held at Union Theological Seminary, James Chapel
Every year at the retreat we get feedback “let’s do this longer or more often” – the fall gathering is designed in response to this. We will have a day together (breakfast through lunch) to sing, pray, hear teaching and interact on the topic: Made for Relationships. Melissa Toomajian will lead us in two teaching sessions, and we will have time in small groups, as well as a time of large group interaction to help us think more deeply about this topic.
Talk 1: Made for Relationships
We will consider the biblical reality that God created us for relationship with Himself and neighbor, and how this reality is affected by creation, fall, and redemption.
Talk 2: Moving Toward Others in Relationship
In this talk we will consider that just as God made the first move in relationship with us through creation and redemption, we are to similarly pursue relationships with neighbors.
Large Group Discussion: Starting Relationships
During this time we will discuss some of the dynamics of initial interactions with others, including the first “So, what brings you to New York?” conversation that you might find yourself having with someone visiting church. We will discuss the potential challenges of these sort of interactions, such as feelings of discomfort or social anxiety.
