Charlie Drew was born and raised on Long Island and received his education at Harvard (BA in English) and Westminster Seminary (M.Div.). His wife Jeannie teaches science at the Brearley School in Manhattan. They have two grown children – Allen and Sarah– both married (to Heather and Peter, respectively), and three grand children. Sailing and music are two of Charlie’s great loves (ask him about his sailboat). He has published four books: A Public Faith: Bringing Personal Faith to Public Issues (Navpress), The Ancient Love Song: Finding Christ in the Old Testament (P and R), A Journey Worth Taking: Finding Your Purpose in This World, and Body Broken: Can Republicans and Democrats Sit in the Same Pew (New Growth Press).

Scott was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He left his job in higher education in 1999 to move to Philadelphia for his theological studies at Westminster Seminary. He met Charlie Drew at a Redeemer leaders meeting that year, and joined Charlie as he started to gather people to start Emmanuel. Scott returned to New York after graduating in 2002 to come on staff at Emmanuel. He lives in the neighborhood of the church with his family.
