Matthew 4:18-22
18 While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him. 21 And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. 22 Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
Discussion Questions
A Christian is someone who has met Jesus and has been invited into the adventure of following him. What has it meant to follow Jesus in your life? If you are not Christian, is there anything about Christianity that you have incorporated into your life?
What does it mean to be a "fisher of men"? How have you lived into that invitation in your own life?
If you were to follow the Jesus we meet in the Gospels for one week, where in your neighborhood would you go that you normally wouldn't go?
What are the "nets" that are familiar and safe to you that you may need to put down to follow Jesus? What would you do if you weren't afraid?
