Home Fellowship Groups

Home Fellowship Groups are probably the single best way to connect at Emmanuel.
We meet in apartments throughout the city for friendship, worship, Bible study and prayer, and these communities become the most common places where we care for one another, serve together, and deepen relationships within the church.

Mercy Team

Emmanuel’s Mercy Team is a group of church leaders who attend to practical needs within the Emmanuel family and mobilize the congregation to address broader issues in our surrounding neighborhoods. Anyone who is part of our church community and facing difficulties can contact the Mercy Team for practical help.

The Mercy Team also coordinates volunteer efforts and provides grants that support partner organizations that serve the poor.  We are currently working with The Bowery Women’s Center in Harlem, Young Life Harlem, Metro World Child, Safe Families for Children, Do For One, and Open Hands Legal Services.

Missions committee

Our committee supports a number of missionaries with prayer, encouragement, and finances.  The committee exists to heighten awareness of Jesus Christ’s heart for the world and to equip our congregation to participate in mission.

To support current missionaries through prayer, financial giving and encouragement contact missions@emmanuelnyc.org.

Meals Ministry

Volunteers who cook, send or deliver food to anyone in our church family who is in need of a meal (new moms, grieving families, members suffering from illness, etc).

Contact us if you are in need of meals or if you would like to provide meals for our community members at alexa@emmanuelnyc.org.

neighborhood Literacy program

Emmanuel has been working with a local ministry partner at the Grant Houses (123rd-125th streets) to help young children with basic literacy skills.  We are looking for volunteers who will serve 1-2 Saturdays a month from 10am-1pm.  No experience with teaching is necessary.  Sign up.

Contact jane@emmanuelnyc.org with questions.

Counseling

Emmanuel provides counseling with Melissa Toomajian, who received her Masters of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. Sessions are free of charge to members and regular attenders. Contact melissa@emmanuelnyc.org for more information or to schedule.

Pastoral care and counseling are also available with our Senior Pastor, Scott Strickman.  Contact sstrickman@emmanuelnyc.org to schedule.
