Pray

  • Pray for God to end the war in Ukraine, grow his church and give great faith to his people during this time of suffering.

  • Pray for God to provide 1,500 crates of aid from 300 churches during the fall 2023 CFU project.

  • Pray for the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ukraine as they receive aid, distribute aid and minister to those in need. May the Lord use CFU to create pathways for the Gospel and the formation of new Gospel communities.

Member Connection

One of our members recently shared a personal story that makes our participation in Crates for Ukraine much more meaningful. Read a slightly edited version:

It was a cold Thursday morning in Munich, Germany on February 24th, 2022. When I woke up, the temperature outside was a chilly 43 degrees Fahrenheit. However, it was like any other winter morning really, nothing unusual. As I woke up I went to take a quick shower. The water was hot, like any other morning really, nothing unusual.

As I checked my phone I quickly realized that this morning was indeed rather unusual.

A single message from my mom, sent at 6 am local time: We are at war.

I rushed to check the local Ukrainian news to find videos of enemy missiles dropped in the places I’ve been to. Russian soldiers entering villages I’ve heard of. And reports from people like you and me, forced to leave their homes.

Since the beginning of the full scale war, I’ve been checking the news daily. I find reports on courage and victory, on weakness and defeat, on humor and hope.

In times like these, I believe, hope is essential. Ukraine is full of people searching for it. Some find it in the Ukrainian army, others in international support, and still others in their families. While it is wonderful to exhibit trust and look for help, I believe that God is using His church in Ukraine to direct people's hope to the only One who can truly provide it. And we as a church can join His work.

Since we have started coming to Emmanuel in April this year, we felt such immense support from everyone here. The very first time we visited, the church was praying for Ukraine. And in the world that seems to quickly forget about injustice, it was God's way of saying I remember you and I hold you in my hand.

And today, we are thrilled that together as a church we can take part in the Crates for Ukraine initiative. Crates for Ukraine (CFU) is organized by our hometown church in Lviv, Ukraine. Their goal is quite simple: to provide practical aid and spread the hope of the gospel.

To this date, aid provided through CFU has been delivered to over 500 locations throughout Ukraine and helped over 50,000 people. In the “fall 2023” initiative, CFU aims to collect and distribute over 30 tons of essential basic, medical, and wound care supplies.

Each crate distributed in Ukraine has a label attached.

The label references Isaiah 43:2-3 - “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.”

Then it says, “Done for the glory of God and the victory of Ukraine.” Thank you.
