Relating: A Monthly Class

October Topic: Boundaries

For many years the topic of “boundaries” has been part of the self-help industry, with the assumption that understanding healthy boundaries will help you relate to others in ways that also results in better mental health.  In recent years there has been a subtle shift – the topic of boundaries seems to have gone in the direction of setting boundaries to gain control over others.  This has not helped us relate better, and may be one factor contributing to trends of loneliness and alienation.  One of the virtues of the New Testament is “self control,” which is different from controlling others.  We will discuss the topic of boundaries with the hopes of clarifying ways to increase healthy interactions so that we can have more meaningful relationships.

Monthly Relating Class

In light of rapid changes in society (technology, values, post-Covid effects, etc.) it can seem we are losing the basic skills to be able to relate in healthy and meaningful ways.  We will meet monthly to process some of these themes together through teaching and discussion.  All are welcome.
