Relating: A Monthly Class

Topic: Romantic Feelings

One aspect of the human experience is that we have feelings that may be categorized in modern culture as “romantic”.   While typically good, these feelings can raise all sorts of problems.  What if you have these feelings towards someone who doesn’t have them for you?  Or if you don’t have them for your spouse (or you are married and you have them for someone who is not your spouse)?  What if you don’t have them at all?  It is hard to categorize and make sense of certain feelings or experiences and this can cause personal and relational problems.  Giving thought to a Christian understanding of love, emotions, relationships, and other aspects of what the Bible says about the human experience may help bring clarity so that we can make steps towards healthier relationships or navigating relationships with some of these complications.

Once a month, after church, Scott will lead a class called “Relating”.  Rapid changes in society (technology, values, post-Covid effects, etc.) are leaving many feeling lonely and disconnected.  It can seem we are losing the basic skills to be able to relate in healthy and meaningful ways.

These classes, which will include teaching and discussion, are a time to process some of these themes together (how to have a hard conversation, how Christian virtues like kindness or patience can help us, etc.).  All are welcome.
